JJ update

Well he attempted his first day back at school yesterday, he only made it 2 hours. I talked to his teacher and school nurse today and they said they felt bad for him. He tries to be so tough. He has been so great with this whole experience and so has Jess. She has tried to be so helpful and it is moments like this that I realize how blessed I truly am. I have the best kids in the world. My days are so tiring and sometimes it is all I can do to wake up in the morning and start over again.

Part of J's problem yesterday was his sling. It slipped and got loose and than he got a burn on his neck from the strap. I felt so bad for him. So we gave him a little time and told him it is ok to get tired and not make it through a whole day yet. So today we started new. I got him a different sling that had velcro and a padded neck strap. I was so excited when it was noon and I hadn't heard anything from the school. His teacher emailed me and said he was doing so much better than yesterday but this sling was still a bit of a challenge.
J made it all the way until 2pm today. I was so excited and proud. He is such a troooper. It took us a long time to convince him to ask for medicine at the hospital if he was hurting and now we are trying to convince to do something that can cause pain. Parents I say!!!
Tomorrow they have a short day so I am hoping beyond hope that he does well.
He has done so well with all of this and Jess has been just as supportive. I am very proud of my them.....

JJ is back home.....

Well he didn't get to be home as soon as they planned or J had hoped but he is home. He spiked a fever last night and they needed it to be gone for 12 hrs before he got to go home. He still isn't eating like he normally does but he is taking his meds and comfortable. We are just happy that he is mostly well and he is doing well. Very happy to have him back at home. He is too. He is resting comfortably and just lounging on the couch. Thank you to everyone for your well wishes and prayers. We have sent them all onto J.

One more update on JJ....

J went into surgery about 2pm and he was so happy. The doctor came around 4pm and said everything went well but they couldn't use the screws and had to put 3 pieces of wire around the bone instead. Which also means that after they are sure he is healing well he has to have another surgery to remove all that. We haven't told him that yet. He was suppose to be able to come home tonight but won't be home until sometime tomorrow. He currently isn't eating well and doesn't want any meds by mouth. He can't go home until he does that. He is asleep more than he is awake which is probably for the best. When he is awake he said it hurts more than before the surgery. He is a tough little guy and has been so great throughout all of this. What a trooper. Thank you to all our friends and family for their thoughts and prayers. We have passed them all onto J.

JJ update

JJ is currently in surgery. He is in very good hands at Children's. They figure the surgery will take about 90 minutes and than we wait for him to wake up and finally he will get to eat. My poor baby hasn't had anything for over 12 hours. He is a growing boy and misses his food.
He will need to come back in a week and than again right around Christmas time, to make sure his arm is healing correctly. They have a couple concerns with this type of break but they are hoping his bones are big enough that they can put screws in so they don't have to do another surgery to remove the screws. Jeff and I are going on little to no sleep. J will have stories about his roommate. But in comparison to how J is doing at this moment we are great. We will leave another update when he is out of surgery and back home with a few pictures.

JJ's broken arm

It has been a long time since the last post and who would have thought the next would be about this. The kids were at my sisters for the long weekend and were having a great time. They were climbing into the hay fort and J slipped and fell onto his arm about 4 feet. Tammy called me about 5:15pm and said we are trying to get him out of the hay loft and will bring him to the hospital, I grabbed my stuff and was on my way.
Once I got to the hospital he was already in back and had his first round of xrays. The doctor came and said it was a bad break and couldn't get a clear film. They sent him back for more xrays. They actually needed on of his good arm, his right, so they could see what it is suppose to look like. Yup, that bad. When we got back from xray for the 2nd time the orthopedic suregeon was there. He asked several times if J injured his left arm before. I thought about it but thought, wouldn't I know. They asked so many times I called Jeff and he said the same thing. Wouldn't we know? So the orthopedic surgeon said the same thing, more xrays. This time they brought the machine to him. They did a lot of turning his hand and arm and moving and I almost passed out. He turned super white and looked just miserable. HE also was starving and couldn't eat or drink anything until they knew if he was going to have surgery.
After the 3rd and 4th round of xrays the doctor came back and said we need to transfer him to CHildrens. He had such a severe break that he thought he could set it before going but that he would probably need another surgery. He said that JJ needed a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon and he was at Children's hospital. So they put a fiberglass cast on his arm wrapped it in a sling and gave him more meds to make the trip. They left his IV needle in so they wouldn't have to poke him again. The meds they gave him made him very sick to his stomach. I put my cold bottle next to his head and he said ooh that feels so good. So we waited what seemed like forever, my sister also never left his side. At about 9:15 we were on our way to Children's. I met Jeff right off a freeway exit and his sister, Kim took Jessica home with her to get some sleep.
Poor Jess was also on an emotional roller coaster. She didnt' want to leave J. And she wouldn't eat anything because J couldn't. She felt too bad for him. I can only say things were in God's hands. From the moment I got into my car to make that what seemed forever drive. Thank you to all my friends that talked me through it and you know who you are......I drove 79 miles in about 45 minutes, and arrived safely. When the ER doctor said he should go to Children's and I said oh that is much closer than this hospital to the drive back to Seattle Childrens with a scared little girl and a very delicate little boy. He was such a trooper through it all. He wants to be so tough and didn't really want anything for the pain but when the doctor touched his arm and he winced I knew enough was enough.
Children's hospital is great! We waited about 10 minutes and went right back to 3 doctors. One was Dr. Parada. He works with Dr. Mosca that will be doing J's surgery. All 3 doctors came in and said wow that is a very bad break. One of the worst. He may need more than 1 surgery. Dr. Parada didn't want to do the surgery tonight for 2 reason. 1. he wanted Dr. Mosca to do the surgery and 2. He wanted their team to do the surgery. We talked with J and he said he wanted the best 2.
It turns out that J has a rare break. The doctor thinks that the reason the other doctor didn't get a good read on the xray because his one bone that broke is actually rotated 180 degrees. So they have a couple corrections to make during surgery. J really wanted to have the surgery and go home but he was almost as happy to have food. He could have as much as he wanted until 1:30AM and than nothing until after surgery. They are expecting, fingers crossed, to do surger around 10AM. They expect it will take about 90 minutes and if everything goes well he will be home in time for dinner. His arm is and has been wrapped in fiberglass since leaving St. Joeseph hospital in Bellingham. The fact that it is wrapped is helping eleviate the pain. They have him on an IV and a morphine drip to keep him comfortable until his surgery. They are concerned about his growth plate and if that will cause future problems and they are concerned about his blood flow. He doesn't appear to have any nerve damage and will have a cast for about 6 weeks.
J very quickly realized 2 things, anything with the bathroom is going to be a chore and video games? not likely. At least not his favorite one.
I am so thankful for everyone's thoughts and prayers and that he only has a broken arm. I am thankful for my sister and brother in law. Greg never left his side, including him somehow getting JJ down that hay loft. J still is talking about how great uncle Greg is. Cory,my nephew who didn't even think about what needed to be done and just did to make sure J was ok. To Jessica who was at J's side every moment until I could get there and held it together for J until I could get there. What a great big sister! I thank God for keeping me safe during all the driving and that J is in the best possible hands. I will keep you all updated.

Brandi, Don and Dakota

Jessica with Dakota
My baby sis Brandi got married not too long ago. So now she has a husband, who is terrific and a little bably born on July 24th, Dakota. He was thrown into our crazy family but we soon discovered he is crazy too. He fit right in. The kids had so much fun with Don.

More pics from the reunion

The kids playing some games
My baby sis cold and exhausted
A group of us playing LCR

On Saturday night the few that were brave enough to stay in the freezing cold. Whatever happened to summer? We played LCR. If you haven't heard of this game you are missing out. It is so much fun and you can play with however many people you choose. It is dice and pennies or whatever you choose to play with but it can go on for awhile.

My Family Reunion

Every other year, my mom's side of the family gets together at the Deming Logging Show. We usually have at least one game of softball, bonfires and lots and lots of food. This year was no different. This year we went on Friday night as well. It turned out to be a very good choice. My cousin had this bottle of what looked like apple cider. Heck no!!! He called it apple pie with a kick. Oh ya it definately had a kick. This year there was also a blues fesitval so we enjoyed music, family and lots of apple pie!

Saturday I met up with my long time friend Holly to pick some blueberries at my sisters farm and headed back the reunion. The best part of the whole weekend was seeing my baby sister with her new baby Dakota. She is such a cutie. Both of them. My sister was a trooper. She had a C-section 8 days ago and she was still there. Uncomfortable and very tired being a new mom, but what a trooper.

I took Dakota and loved on her the whole day. And get this people, I changed her and I fed her and just loved her to pieces. Yes I did. Change and fed!! She even wet through everything all over me, but I didn't want to hand her back. Were my kids really ever that small? She was so tiny.

She was born 8 lbs 4oz but she like about 5 pounds.

I will say when people asked to hold her I did oblige but they always gave her back to me. I was in heaven the whole weekend.

We went back to the campgrounds again this morning to have breakfast and say goodbye. How very sad to know it may be months before I see her again. I actually have plans to see her in a couple weeks. I am sure she would have grown so much by then.

We made the drive back home and will be ready to play some ball too. What a great weekend that has ended much too soon.

Laurie's good bye dinner

July 31st a few girls got together to wish Laurie well as she packed up her family to move to California. She was to hand her keys in the next morning. We had such a great time! When we got to Anthony's it was hard to find parking and by they time we left there only a few cars in the lot. Most were ours! We had some laughs and hugged our friend goodbye. We will miss you Laurie!

Can you say hot???

Beany, Kim and myself
Kim and me
Nita. She rocks at pitching

Very hot tonight for softball but nothing compared to last week. Last Wednesday was a whole lot of softball in a nice little thunderstorm. At one point, last week, as I was holding an aluminum bat, I thought, this doesn't seem so smart. I mean really? Standing in the middle of an open softball field, while thunder and lightening and I am holding an aluminum bat. Hmmm......

So tonight was super hot, about 80 degrees outside hot. But it was a great night. So many women and lots of bruises. At least they were not from this game or even this team. Most of the girls on the team play for mulitple teams, including me. At one point, Jen yells there is no crying in baseball, Lisa yells right back, this is softball I can cry if I want to. Nice. Way to go Lisa.

Many people were on a break from Family Camp. Me? Yeck no! We are not campers.

Mariner's game

Kim and I at our seats
Our terrific seats...Thanks Steven!!!!

Kim in the nicest bathroom ever for a ball park!

So last Thursday, my boss Steven, gets a call from Key Bank. 4 box private suite tickets, who wants them? I waited a whole 30 seconds and no one said a word. Uh ok, yes please. He comes back to the meeting and says, pick them up by 5 in Woodinville. It was about 2 and I started working to get 4 people to go. In the end, Kelli from work, Beth, a former co-worker, and my friend and myself are all on. It took some convincing to get Kim to go. She actually said she told Keith, her hubby that she would go to his games. Ok what? Mariners box tickets or a softball game? Ya he said are you crazy? Kelli went to Woodinville to get the tickets and bonus we had a parking pass too. What a great time we had. It turned out to be Ladies Night out at the Mariners. So after walking around we went back to the suite and saw a ton of food and a mini open bar. Nice. We had a great time even though the Mariners lost. I don't even remember the score.

More pictures at my sister's wedding

Jessa's volleyball team

Jess had a great volleyball season. She has improved so much and her once, barely get it over the net serve, now gets it over majority of the time. She has so much fun playing with the same girls year after year.

Brandy's Wedding

Me, Brandy and Tammy
Her bridal party
Brandy and Don before the mess
Brandy's wedding was anything but ordinary. Tammy and I wanted to be there for our little sister so we hopped in the car, with mom in tow, for a long car ride. I happily offered to drive. Mom just had surgery and Tammy has anything but a lead foot. We made a couple stops over but made it to Naches, 14 miles past Yakima in 3 hours. The ride back was a bit quicker. About 2.5, and that was making 2 stops.

We were not looking forward to the drive but seeing Brandy's face was so worth it! We had some great pictures taken and make that 6 hour trip worth the 1.5 hours spending it with her and her new husband. Hope you all enjoy the pictures.

Wii Fit Fun

Just one of the many, many fun games on wii fit.

Big shocker

So after the folklife festival and trying the wii fit, it took all of 3 days before we bought one.

I have to say it is better than going to the gym. It is very much a work out. We invited people over to have a wii game night. It was very entertaining and I can say, thank goodness there are straps for those things.... Sean kept hitting the window and I am pretty sure I did too.

Heather is the queen of bowling and Sean liked the softball. We say stick to what you know.

Keith came after work and saw just how much of a work out you can get. I am pretty sure he had wished I had not talked Kim into coming over. She is hooked. Doesn't take much when you can get the whole family in on it.

Our weekend fun

Vikki, Jess and I decided to visit the folklife festival at Seattle Center over the weekend.
We had a great time with the different foods, music and of course looking at all the crafts.
To Jess' enjoyment they had a wii fit center. She had already wanted to try it and today she had the chance. Jess loved it and really wants the wii fit now. She is hooked. We had such a ball that Monday we went back for some more great food and fun. The weather was fabulous on Saturday! In fact we got a bit sunburned and yesterday was perfect weather. It was a great long weekend and spending it with family and friends makes it that much better. The only thing missing? Softball........

Let the games begin

JJ and Jessica has joined our world of sports. Jessica is very much into volleyball and is in her 5th season. She improved so much since her first season. She would struggle to get serves over and now she gets 5 before they have to rotate. She is really enjoying it and it is so much fun to watch.

JJ as everyone knows, has been huge into soccer. However, with moving to a different area it isn't as convenient for him to play with the league and we have yet to find him a new spring league. JJ decided he would give baseball a try. He isn't quite convinced it is a sport for him.

With Jeff's and my love for the sport we of course would love for him to like it just as much but he isn't quite there yet. But it is only his first try at it.

Welcome to our site

Hello friends and family. Things are definately on the fast pace with our family. We wanted to give all of you a chance to keep up with us. Pastor Brad a couple weeks ago had made a comment to Andy Grounds about me "mutering again" I found that to be funny and just like me.

As most of you know I can be a bit sarcastic, I know, shocking. But eveyone knows that we Muter's really just like to have a good time. I will do my best to keep this post updated with pictures of the whole family.
